1932 Italian minelayer Lepanto to Naval Post Office, Rome,
frankless, applied with scarce “RR POSTE R.C.T. ESPERO” oval h.s,
matching with “R.C.T. ESPERO” circular seal. Arrived Rome (9 Jul).
Lepanto was in Italian service in the far east until 1943, when she
was scuttled in China, during World War II. She was then recovered
by the Imperial Japanese Navy and taken into service as Okitsu. She
was surrendered to the Republic of China after the end of the war
and served for a further ten years with its navy as the Hsien
Ning.
1932年意大利佈雷船Lepanto號寄羅馬海軍郵局,無貼票,鈐少見之“RR POSTE R.C.T.
ESPERO”橢圓形戳記,背面鈐“R.C.T. ESPERO”圓戳。7.9抵羅馬。
Lepanto號一直為意軍戰艦,直至1943年在中國鑿沈,後又被日軍收編為興津號。二戰後向民國投降,收編為咸寧艦。
