The Yokohama Agency was kept open until the end of 1875 because of problems with Hong Kong postal officials refusing to accept U.S. mail in the Japanese post. Transit Vancouver (8 Jun). Arrived Chattanooga (13 Jun). In May 1898, the Battle of Manila broke out. Mails from American ships were delivered to US Consulate Hong Kong for forwarding to USA.
