1895 (27 Jul.) envelope to the U.S.A. bearing 6ca brown, cancelled by Peking seal in blue, in combination with France “Chine” 25c, cancelled by “Shang-hai/Chine” c.d.s. (10 Aug.), and on reverse blue “I.G. of Customs/Peking” and “Customs/Shanghai” transit (1 Aug.) daters in blue, “Yokohama/Japan” transit (17 Aug.) c.d.s., and “Evansville/Ind.” arrival c.d.s. (9 Sep.), late example of this wartime arrangement after the peace treaty was signed and just before the Japanese Post Office in Shanghai was reopened, fine to very fine. Chan 27.
