Kuang Hsu / Guangxu Year 19 (1893) Ministry of War submission to
emperor, detailing the number of Royal Mail dispatched and the
return of carriage warrants. In this month (the 10th month of the
year) there were 56 royal mails, including those to Sining Amban of
Tsinghai as well as the Governor of Sinkiang. There was a return of
50 carriage warrants, which granted the bearer (usually local lords
and chieftans, senior officials or their agents) free transport,
board and lodging in all Yizhan enroute.
