1861 (15 March) Linen envelope from the “Legation de France en Chine” to Paris (27 April) and redirected, showing superb impression of “VICE CONSULAT DE FRANCE / HONG KONG / eagle image” cachet, with “POSS. ANG. V. SUEZ / A. MARSEILLE A” entry c.d.s. in red color. On reverse side, cancelled by “HONG KONG / C” origin c.d.s. manuscript “36” (decimes) for one oz letter, minor surface faults, a truly very rare example of the Hong Kong French Consular seal that we would not be able to see much others. This French Consulate mail was carried by British P&O packet ligne “PEKIN”, “CANDIA”, “VALETTA” arrived at Marseille on 24 April. Provenance: The “Mosaic” Collection – Aug 2010 1861.3.15 在華法軍寄法國，鈐“VICE CONSULAT DE FRANCE / HONG KONG”鷹徽圓戳。另見香港始發日戳。這款法國駐港領事圓戳極為珍罕，存世者寥寥可數。2010.8 Mosaic集藏。

20 July 1869, cover sent from Haverhill, Massachusetts, to Swatow, franked with a US 10c adhesive tied by dumb cross stamp. On the front side, further cancelled by a boxed handstamp “PAID ONLY TO HONG KONG” with manuscript deletion, San Francisco Paid All red circular c.d.s. On the reverse side, two cancellations including HK c.d.s. (5 Sep) and Swatow arrival c.d.s. (9 Sep). According to Goldsmith, this special “PAID ONLY TO HONG KONG” handstamp was a locally made cancellation, specifying the postage paid was sufficient up to Hong Kong only. But in this cover, the US postage 10c has already covered the charge to the Treaty Port, Swatow, and therefore deleted the boxed handstamp subsequently by the HK postal officer when he forwarded the mail to Swatow. Provenance: Mike Goldsmith Collection 1869.7.20 美國寄汕頭，貼美國票10分，正鈐“PAID ONLY TO HONG KONG”指示戳，另見香港中轉戳及汕頭到達戳。Goldsmith指此指示戳為當地製作，表明郵資僅覆蓋至香港。但此封之郵資亦足以寄至商埠，故在香港被劃去。Mike Goldsmith舊藏。
