1897 Shanghai (5 Jul) to Hankow, returned to Shanghai, applied with scarce "SHANGHAI CUSTOMS MAIL MATTER" oval seal, alongside with Shanghai dollar cds. Arrived Hankow (9 Jul) with dollar cds. Address crossed by crayon and changed to Shanghai but no Shanghai return cds. Cover opened out for display. 2004 (Dec) Zurich Asia, lot 9. Ex- Anna-Lisa and Sven-Eric Beckeman. 1897.7.5 上海寄漢口，退回上海，鈐稀罕難得之“SHANGHAI CUSTOMS MAIL MATTER”橢圓紅戳，旁鈐上海大圓始發日戳。7.9抵漢口，同樣鈐大圓戳。地址被劃去指示退回上海，但無上海到達戳。封剖開以作展示。2004.12 蘇黎世亞洲，拍品號9。貝克曼伉儷舊藏。

1949 Hengyang (11 Aug) to to Foochow, returned to Hengyang, f.w. Revenue stamp Kwangtung ovpt Domestic Letter Rate on $200 on reverse, tied by Hunan Hengyang cds. Arrived Foochow but returned to Hengyang via Chungking (25 Jan), Changsha (3 Feb). Arrived on 5 Feb. Peculiar franking of Kwangtung unit stamp on cover from Hunan. Foochow was liberated on 17 Aug, just a few days after this cover was sent. 1949.8.11 衡陽寄福州，退回衡陽，背貼印花稅票廣東加蓋國內信函單位票，銷湖南衡陽三格點線日戳。抵福州但被退回，1.25經重慶，2.3經長沙，2.5抵達。廣東單位票於湖南貼用之有趣例子，日期更為福州解放（8.17）前數天。
