the Chinese Amban in Tibet, Darjeeling, applied with large red
seal. Very rare Amban letter sent outside Tibet as the Chinese
Amban Shengtai was in Calcutta to sign the Tibet Sikkim Boundary
Convention by that time. The Convention recognized a British
protectorate over Sikkim and demarcated the Sikkim–Tibet
border.
1890年5月駐藏大臣升泰寄廓爾喀國王Bir Shamsher，鈐紅色官印。出自西藏以外的駐藏大臣公文非常稀罕。當時升
泰正在加爾各答簽署《中英藏印條約》。主要內容是清朝承認哲孟雄（今錫金）為英國的保護國，劃定哲孟雄與西藏的邊界。
