1894 Macau Luis I surch “PROVISORIO” 2a on 10r. MNH. Very Fine.
According to the article “Macau -2 avos sobre 10 Reis” published in
1944, someone showed up in the state printer with sheets of Macau
Luis I 10r stamps and requested surcharge of 2a on them, claiming
it would be used in Timor. After that, this type of 2a/10r stamp
appeared on the Yvert catalogue which claimed that this stamp was
circulating in Timor. However, this stamp never actually circulated
and was a clandestine production. As the governor of Macau Horta e
Costa was a philatelist, he ordered to detain mails f.w. this stamp
and prohibited to cancel it on cover. However, CTO stamps exist
after several years as the order was forgotten.

10
Reis》一文，曾有人攜同澳門路易士一世10厘士版票至國家印刷廠，並要求加蓋改作2仙，聲稱是於帝汶使用。隨後此款郵票便出現於Yvert目錄中，並聲稱是於帝汶使用，但實質上從未正式流通，為私下加蓋。同為集郵家的澳門總督高士德下令扣留所有貼用此票之信封，並禁止蓋銷。但數年後禁令被人遺忘，故有蓋銷票存世。
