Italian Offices in China
1938 65th Infantry Division “Granatieri di Savoia” from Shanghai to
Genova. Italian 15c PSC, uprated by with 7-1/2c x8, tied by scacrce
and neat “REGIE POSTE / COMANDO / BATT. GRANATIERI SAVOIA / IN
ESTREMO-ORIENTE” oval h.s. in violet. Scarce example of Italian
stationery used in China. During the Second Sino-Japanese War Italy
dispatched the I Grenadier Battalion of the 10th Regiment to China
on 23 August 1937 to help guard the Shanghai International
Settlement during the Battle of Shanghai. The battalion returned to
Addis Ababa on 28 December 1938.

Savoia”自上海寄熱那亞。意大利15分郵資片，加貼意大利票7-1/2分x8枚，銷稀罕之“REGIE POSTE / COMANDO
/ BATT. GRANATIERI SAVOIA / IN
ESTREMO-ORIENTE”橢圓形戳記。意大利郵資片於中國實寄較少見。淞滬會戰期間，意大利於1937年8月23日派出一個營保護上海意租界，後來於1938年12月28日返回埃塞俄比亞。
