1842 (31 Aug) Macao to London A letter from Macao to London at the height of First Opium War. The letter mentioned a lot of normalising commercial activities despite the war time in China. Towards the end of the letter, it clearly mentioned as follows: “ ……We have a report down here that (British) force have taken Nanking. They took Ningpo some time since…… ”. A good letter written at the time of concluding the Nanking Treaty.

澳門，1842年8月31日 這是一封於第一次鴉片戰爭高峰期間從澳門寄往倫敦的信件。信中提及許多戰時中國仍持續的商業活動。信件末尾明確寫道：「……我們此處獲悉（英軍）已攻佔南京。寧波亦於稍早陷落……」此信寫於《南京條約》簽訂之際，具有重要歷史意義。
