1955 Phari (19 Jun) to India, f.w. C13 (4-1) $400 for Tibet to India letter rate. Transit Yatung (24 Jun). Arrived Kalimpong (27 Jun). Tibet-to-India letter rate was same as Indian domestic rate 2a before the effect of Sino-Indian postal convention 1955. Given fluctuation of exchange rate, $450, $400 and $500 postage was seen. It is a very late example of $400 rate. Illustration fig 24, p. 395 in “Tibet Stamps and Postal History” by S Chazen and D.
