1874 Yokohama (13 Apr) to USA, f.w. Hong Kong QV 4c in pair, tied by Y1 obliterator in violet, matching with Yokohama BPO cds on reverse. Showing "10" h.s Arrived San Francisco with steamship cds. This cover was carried by Vasco de Gama on its 2nd of only 3 transpacific voyages for China Trans-Pacific Steamship Company. This company was later leased by the Pacific Mail Steam Ship Co. The San Francisco Steamship cds is also scarce and dated very early.1874.4.13 橫濱寄美國，貼香港維多利亞女皇像4仙雙連，銷Y1紫色殺手戳，背面蓋有橫濱英局日戳。正面蓋有“10”。抵三藩市，鈐Steamship日戳。此封由Vasco de Gama號送遞，是該船為China Trans-Pacific Mail Steam Ship Co所運行的三程跨太平洋航程中的第二程。該公司後來租予Pacific Mail Steam Ship Co。三藩市Steamship日戳同樣較少見，日期甚早。

The Yokohama Agency was kept open until the end of 1875 because of problems with Hong Kong postal officials refusing to accept U.S. mail in the Japanese post. Japan started its own foreign mail service on 1 Jan 1875.約1870年代橫濱寄美國，背鈐“PACIFIC MAIL S.S Co. / Yokohama Agency”藍色圓戳。正寫有“per Macgregor”批注。貼美國票10分，銷十字殺手戳及三藩市9.11日戳。橫濱美國郵理代理於1875年因香港郵政拒絕收取日本投遞之美國郵件而結束營業。同年日本自營寄國外郵政服務。
