This cover was probably paying international registered airmail letter rate $8000 (wef between 1 - 10 Apr 1949) but the rate was already adjusted twice on 11 and 17 Apr. Cover opened at top. According to Patrick Choy, Kwangtung Postal District began to use postage rates based on Silver Yuan Base Currency on 29 Apr 1949 and the domestic letter rate was 4c = Kwangtung Gold Yuan $160,000 as at 6 May 1949. Therefore, as letter rate to Hong Kong and Macau was also 4c Silver Yuan, this example showed that the exchange rate was only $6500 Gold Yuan = Silver Yuan 1c five days ago in Kwangtung? Also, originating from the small town Ngshaphu is also scarce.1949.5.1 五十墟寄香港。中式封，背貼印花稅票改值金圓2000元蓋300元x10 + 孫像金圓1000元六方連，合2萬6千元，銷廣東五十墟三格日戳。封頂打開。蔡國雄記載，廣東郵區於4月29日實施銀圓基數收取郵資，而在5月6日以廣東金圓券付國內平信郵資為16萬。由於寄港澳郵資同為銀圓4分，故按此例反推，在五天前金圓券於廣東的匯率僅為6500金圓=1分銀圓？五十墟日戳同樣少見。
