Entire letter, rated “4” and sent “per Steamer Norma”, f.w. scarce Indian QV 4a octagonal 4a, tied by diamond obliterator, alongside with Bombay BPP Paid h.s. Transit Hong Kong (1 Dec). The steamer was not recorded by Scamp. Before the outbreak of the 2nd Opium War, most foreign residents left. A very late example of incoming mail.1856.11.1 孟買寄廣州瓊記洋行。郵簡，寫有“4”及“per Steamer Norma”批示，貼有珍罕之印度維多利亞女皇像4安娜八角形票，銷鑽石殺手戳，旁鈐孟買郵資已付戳。12.1經香港。Norma號未見Scamp之記錄。在第二次鴉片戰爭前夕，大多外國人已離開。故此為甚晚之進口封例。

Webb recorded only 20 postcards and covers with C1 obliterator and 7 of them are Craven correspondence. This one is also a rather late example of C1 obliterator and type B combination. 19 August 1859, entire from Chile to Hong Kong "via Southampton paid" bearing Chile 1856-62 Chilean Colón 10-cents sky-blue 2x, cancelled by barred circle obliterator with London transit "PAID 19 OC 1858", and a "6" pink crayon manuscript rate on the front side; the reverse bearing a "Frederick Huth & Co., London" forwarding agent mark, together with a 1988 Royal Philatelic Society certificate. The entire is accompanied by a 1988 Royal Philatelic Society London certificate confirming authenticity. Mail from South America to Hong Kong in the 1850s is particularly scarce, and this example is especially desirable for: The forwarding agent marking, seldom seen on South American mails. Early usage of Chilean Colón adhesives on intercontinental mail. A well-preserved and scarce example of early pre-UPU transcontinental mail, illustrating forwarding practices and global postal connectivity of the period. Havana, Cuba to Hong Kong, China in use of Forwarding Agent in London 21 August 1863, entire letter sent from Habana (Cuba) to Sr. D. Juan Salvador Álvarez in Hong Kong, China, endorsed "per overland via Marseille", routed through London with forwarding agent handstamp "ENCAMINADA POR MANCHA Y C" / LONDRES", and carried overland through France to the Far East via the French packet system. Red London transit marking and manuscript "1/-" credit rating indicate handling under British-French postal arrangements. Manuscript accountancy mark "14" suggests application of international charges. Backstamp in green-black shows origin cancel from Habana (C MAYO). This is a rare pre-UPU correspondence from Spanish colonial Cuba to China, demonstrating complex postal logistics in the pre-Suez Canal era. Few letters from Cuba to Hong Kong are recorded from this early period, especially bearing forwarding marks and routed via the overland Marseille route. A remarkable example of transcontinental mercantile correspondence from Latin America to Qing China. Entire letter, sent “By overland India Mail”, applied with London PAID origin d.s. and Hong Kong double-arc (13 Jun) arrival cds. with Original 4 page letter & detailed research notes of Captain Lyons.Also included is a biographical dossier on Captain Edmund Mowbray Lyons, showing his service record from 1825 to his death in action at Sebastopol in 1855. Lyons was the son of Admiral Sir Edmund Lyons, one of Britain’s most celebrated naval commanders of the Crimean War. At the time of this letter, Captain Lyons commanded H.M.S. Pilot on the East Indies & China Station, making this a highly desirable piece of early Hong Kong naval postal history. 1849.4.24 英國寄香港之英軍軍艦Pilot號Capt. Great Britain to Hong Kong - Forwarded to Naval Commander via Crawle & Co. 18 February 1858, a letter franked with 6x 1d red Queen Victoria Line-Engraved stamps, each tied by the "529" barred oval cancel, routing endorsed "Via Southampton" at upper left. The cover is addressed to Vaughan T. Daves Esq., Commander of the "Arrow,", care of Messer. P.H. Cawle & Co., Hong Kong, China. A forwarding agent often held or redirected naval and commercial correspondence to foreign residents or officers serving in China. This cover was addressed to Commander Vaughan T. Daves, then in command of the HMS Arrow, a prominent vessel notably triggered the Second Opium War, which is known as the Arrow Incident broken out in October 1856. On the reverse side, cancelled by double arc Hong Kong c.d.s. (4 AP 1858), and UK's MILFORD (FE 18, 1853), and LONDON dispatch c.d.s. (FE 19, 58) in red color.英國寄香港 - 轉交亞羅號海軍指揮官,經 Cawle & Co. 轉遞 1858年2月18日寄出,信封貼用維多利亞女王一便士紅色線雕郵票六枚,均銷以「529」橫條數字格線銷戳。左上角手寫註明「Via Southampton」鄭路。信件地址為: 中國香港轉交 P.H. Cawle & Co., 「亞羅號」艦長Vaughan T. Daves 閣下。Cawle & Co. 為十九世紀中期駐香港的英資轉運代理商,專責接收、暫存或再轉遞海軍及商業信函,予派駐華之外籍居民與軍官。信封背面蓋有:香港雙圈日戳(1858年4月4日);英國MILFORD 日戳(1858年2 月18日);倫敦紅色發信日戳(1858年2月19日)。本件郵品收件人為Vaughan T. Daves 艦長,當時為英國皇家海軍亞羅號艦 HMS Arrow 指揮官。HMS Arrow 於1856年10月在廣州引發著名的「亞羅號事件」,成為第二次鴉片戰爭爆發的導火線,歷史意義重大。
