40th Regiment Infantry stationed in Calcutta, India, with a boxed
stamp of “CALCUTTA SHIP LETTER / 12 November 1842 / Bearing 15
Annas”; manuscript “2” at the back. The Eastern Expedition military
mail was basically rare.
