1901 From steamship Crefeld to Germany, f.w. Germania ovpt. China 5pf in pair, tied by extremely scarce "KAIS. DEUTSCHE SCHIFFSPOST DAMPFER CREFELD" circular postmark. Arrived Wesel (24 Oct). The steamship Crefeld was chartered from the Norddeutscher Lloyd Company to transport troops to Taku. It was given the Marine-shiffspost cancel No. 72. After the successful operation during Boxer Rebellion, Crefeld was again used to transport troops back to Germany but this time no Marine-Schiffspost cancel was used, instead a private "CREFELD DAMPFER" cancel. It was used only from Aug to late Oct 1901, hence, a great rarity.
