1864 (August) a cover sent from Yokohama, Japan to Cavaillon via Shanghai. The front side franked with a strip of 3 x 40c French Empire adhesives and a 20c in blue, cancelled by “5104” diamond lozenges, a red boxed “PD”, a double circled “SHANG-HAI BAU FRANCAIS / 31 AOUT 64”. On the reverse side, cancelled by a oval “CONSTENSOUX LEDEMMANN& Co / YOKOHAMA (JAPAN)” and a series of transit and arrival c.d.s. A desirable Yokohama mail which was carried privately to Shanghai P.O. where it is stamped with French postages; an extremely good French postal history item with full of characters.
