1897 Empress Dowager small figure surcharges 4c on 4ca horizontal pair, imperf between, cancelled by "Customs / Shanghai" dater of "JAN 2 1897" cds. Very fine strike. Approximately ten horizontal imperforate between pairs are known to date. With Peter Holcombe signature. Less than ten horizontal imperforate between pairs are recorded. A rarity.
