Lot 2210

1843 a member onboard HMS Cambrian, Chusan (26 Aug) to his cousin at Hong Kong. Entire letter, applied with Royal Arms Webb type 4 oval seal. On reverse with Chinese delivery instruction "Wong Ngai Chun Camp" where the 98th Regiment was stationed. This regiment was withdrawn to Hong Kong at the end of 1842. Dr Andrew Cheung recorded 74 covers bearing this Royal Arms seal while it is one of the four examples on incoming mails to Hong Kong. It is also the 7th one offered by AVA and the first one incoming to Hong Kong.

1843.8.26 停泊於舟山的英軍戰艦HMS Cambrian號成員寄香港的表親。郵簡，鈐Webb 4型香港盾徽圓戳。背面帶有“黃泥涌營”中文派遞指示，為九十八營駐紮之地。此營於1842年底撤至香港。 張文德醫生記錄此盾徽戳記存世共七十四件，當中僅四件為進口香港例子。此封同時為艾華所經手的第七件，並為首件進口香港例子。
